I cant think of a title as this is about nothing inparticular...consider this the title.

Well the album finally gets its UK release on February 8th. Seems to have taken an age...especially as its been available throughout Europe...Once again...apologies ...but you never know - we might just back it up with something else new a LOT sooner than it took to produce album number 2...

So...whats been going on since the European release of The Fallen Host? Well we played a handful of shows (nowhere near as many as we'd have liked), including the Denovali Swingfest 2009. This took place in Essen...was a really great event and an amazing line up of bands. I particularly enjoyed Sankt Otten (who we'll be playing with again in February) and Fall of Efra.
Regards to Blueneck sets - i think each show we did seemed to be littered with technical issues, equipment not working and more often than not (in my case at least) leads falling out of guitars!...we've been working hard to rectify these problems for the upcoming short tour in February.

The shows we did last year were mainly consisting of tracks from the Fallen Host with a couple of older tracks (Oig and Le:465) getting a run out. This month we've been rehearsing and playing around with a wider range of songs...I think the tour in February willconsist of a balance between tracks from Scars of the Midwest and The Fallen Host....Its actually been really enjoyable playing tracks such as Ub2, amoc and Judas! Judas! again...Once again we've tried making Epiphany work....its just not quite right....we've decided we just need an extra drummer!..we'll continue trying to nail this one as we've actually only ever played this live once...

So after the tour in February whats happening? Well Johnny is about to become a dad...so he's going to be taking a break for a couple of months....in the meantime we'll be back in the studio awaiting johnny's return. Then its back to touring. Theres a big emnphasis on playing shows for blueneck in 2010....booking is actually already underway and we'll be confirming some dates pretty soon. We'll be covering more areas this time around, quite possibly some that are further afield...so hopefully we'll get to visit some new places and meet new people. Obviously as soon as dates for tours are confirmed we'll begin to announce them on the website. THere should be a 'Touring' section added real soon...

We'll try and update this blog section at least once a week...so if you have any questions or want to know specific info then just let us know....maybe post on the forum (i'll start a topic inviting questions) or just contact us through the website.

I think ive waffled on enough now....

Take care

automobiles.... pt2

OK....well a new car has been found and i'm now left with a rover 416, (slightly faded red, broken wing mirror, stinks ever so slightly of cats urine....oh...and the engine needs replacing) in my driveway.....would you like to buy it? I'm open to offers...it of course will need collecting.....but comes with a free copy of scars of the midwest....oh and a free copy of a do make say think album (of which the title escapes me)....but that's snapped in half...somehow.

Make me an offer before I take it to the scrap heap this weekend!....if it had an engine in it that worked...it would be ..... Still crap.

automobiles....

bonjour...ca va?

my car died yesterday....it was a hump of junk....Ollie (my son) was most pleased by the news as it means we get to buy a new car....one that doesnt smell of cat wee (long story)......anyway.....

we had a little get together down in the blueneck bunker last night, johnny made a return after an absence with a back injury that nearly left him dead....well....maybe it wasnt THAT serious...but it made this diary entry a little more dramatic at least....johnny does actually need a small operation on his back just to patch things up right and proper so obviously he'll be expecting lots of gifts/grapes/dirty mags....just send all your gifts for the attention of duncan attwood...and i'll potentially pass them on.

We had a little play around with a few of the tracks we'll be recording next month, getting johnny up to speed with structures etc, its all coming along rather nicely....we also looked into a couple of pieces of music that we plan to record for a podcast that we intend to start doing on a regular basis...the first will be available in december and we plan to give it a festive theme...we'll be including a couple of tracks that have a festive feel to them plus also playing a couple of our favourite bands too. in addition we'll also be answering any questions that have happened to come our way...if you DO have any questions you want answered , want to recommend a band or just would like to abuse us then feel free to drop a line via the website or the myspace site. After the initial podcast we'll then be doing further ones , playing more bands that we have an affection for, some you will have heard of, some you wont, plus also recording some exclusive blueneck content for you.

oh...i think that theres going to be a VERY limited edition blueneck t-shirt available soon...ben has done the design and it looks great...from the sounds of it theres only going to be 50 available...we'll try and have them up in the shop before too long....just thought id give you the heads up on that one.

Right, well im off now....Sal (better half) has gone off in search of the dead car's replacementand i think i'll join her in the quest for a relaiable, non cat wee smelling car.

Vocals, Coughing...

Last night was the Carmen Rizzo vocal session... interesting. Dunk's not done much for a while, but soon found his stride... by sitting down. Lazy ass. Mind you, the cellar can be a bit of an inhospitable environment so fair enough. At least the mouldy carpets have gone....

It sounds good... nothing like Blueneck, but the plan is to do a Blueneck version soon. ish.

At least we didn't have any giggling fits last night...

a little news

So...Ben has set up this blog for us to update with various wafflings on our part....lucky you!...I see its quite brown in here....VERY brown in fact.....Ben likes brown.....its most probably his favourite colour.....see? the waffling has started already!.....

Right....so, we've been away and out of the loop so to speak for a bit and as you might have seen from the main news page we've been working on a couple of collaborations recently. Last night we were working on a track for Carmen Rizzo (www.carmenrizzo.com) he track is called 'Confusion'. Its a pretty much ambient track with rather chilled beats....in all honesty its been a challenge initially as I'm not used to working within this particular kind of genre of music, but I think we're now pretty much there....We recorded the vocals in the cellar where we are setting up our studio....but unfortunately there's a fair amount of dust and god knows what else floating around....so doing the vocals last night was hard work....every time i opened my mouth to sing a line i got a mouthful of dust......and god knows what else....so theres an awful lot of takes me me coughing, spluttering and swearing about the amount of dust....and god knows what else.
Im waffling again....

Right....well, we're also going to be working on our own version of Carmen Rizzo's 'Confusion'....which you'll probably get to hear within a month or so.....we'll let you know where and when we upload it.
Well, thats me done for now....im off to play Star wars lego 2....its safe to say im addicted.

Cheers

onward and downward....

We're all a bit new to this so bear with us.

New recordings are going to commence soon, so we're keeping a diary, log (or whatever you wish to call it) of all the bits and peices going on. We'll upload photos, clips or anything we think of interest from the 'cellar' (which we like to call 'home'...)

Until the next time...
